What is Development?
Live Oak School relies on financial contributions to provide funding for up to 10% of the operating budget each year. As it is for all independent schools, fundraising is essential to the health and growth of Live Oak, where the cost of an excellent education is not covered by tuition alone. Support from current parents and extended family, alumni and their families, foundations, and other friends of the school, ensures that our program supports the potential and promise of each student.
Ways to Support Live Oak School
Live Oak Fund
In the 2016-17 school year the goal for the Live Oak Fund is $700,000 with participation from 100% of our parents, trustees, faculty, and administration. Everyone is asked and expected to contribute. Gifts from families range from $5 to $50,000. Contributions to the Live Oak Fund create the educational opportunities in which our students thrive. Donations may be directed toward the Adjusted Tuition Program; teacher salaries; professional development; the Technology Access Project; field trips; extracurricular activities including drama and athletics; and the library. In 2015-16, 100% of Live Oak School’s trustees, 100% of Live Oak’s faculty, and 98% of parents made a gift to the Annual Fund.
Live Oak School Endowment
The Live Oak School Endowment was established in 2011 to generate critical ongoing income and ensure a strong education for our children for years to come. As of May 1, 2016, total contributions to the Endowment had reached $2.2 million. Donations to the Live Oak School Endowment may be undesignated or directed toward the Holly Horton Scholarship Fund or teacher professional development.
If you are in a position to give a large gift, your donation will change students’ lives. Major gifts make it possible for Live Oak to create bold new programs and imaginative spaces, and significantly grow the Live Oak School Endowment.
Planned giving provides an opportunity for donors to support Live Oak now and in the future through trusts, bequests, real estate donations, and as the beneficiary of life insurance policies.
Birthday Books, the Book Fair, eScrip, and merchandise sales offer a variety of ways to support Live Oak School.
