The Magic Cookie

By Olivia

Chapter 1

"Let's bake cookies," said Otto the otter."

"Sure," said Flipper the otter. So Flipper and Otto got the mix to bake the cookies and started mixing. "Hey, you splashed me with the batter," said Flipper.

"Sorry," said Otto. Then Flipper put the batter into the oven for thirty minutes. "Should we make icing?" asked Otto.

"Yes, we should. Where do you get these great ideas?" said Flipper."

"From my brain," said Otto.

"Oh," said Flipper. So Otto and Flipper started to make the icing.

"RRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG!" went the timer.

"Ahhhhh what was that?" said Otto.

"It was the timer," said Flipper.

"Oh yeah," said Otto. Otto took the cookies out of the oven. "Let's put the icing on in three minutes," said Flipper.

"In the meantime let's read our books," said Otto.

"I'm reading The Apple Who Bit Back," said Flipper.

"I'm reading The Evil Chicken," said Otto. So they sat down on the couch and started to read. "OK, it's time to put the icing on the cookies," said Otto.

"OK," said Flipper. Otto and Flipper set their books down and walked into the kitchen. "Hmmmm, where did we put the icing again?" asked Flipper.

"In the refrigerator," said Otto. So Flipper took the icing out of the refrigerator. "These cookies smell good," said Otto. Soon they were halfway through icing the cookies. Then they were all done. "Can we eat one?" asked Otto.

"Sure," said Flipper.

"Yeah!" yelled Otto. So Otto picked up a cookie and plopped it in his mouth. "Yum," said Otto talking with his mouth full. Then Flipper picked up a cookie and he turned invisible. "Where did you go Flipper?" asked Otto.

"I turned invisible!" said Flipper in a surprised voice.

"Cool . . . let me try," said Otto.

So Flipper handed Otto the cookie but it took Otto a little bit to find the cookie because the cookie was invisible too! "Cool! I can see fine when I'm invisible," said Otto.

"Hey, why don't you try touching your book? Let's see if it will turn invisible too," said Flipper. So Otto held the cookie in his hand and touched the book. It turned invisible too!! "Wow that is amazing!" said Flipper. Otto put down the cookie and reappeared.

"We should put it somewhere it's safe," explained Otto.

"Good idea," agreed Flipper.

"I know where we should put it," said Otto in an excited voice.

"Where?" asked Flipper.

"Follow me," said Otto. So Flipper followed (a very excited) Otto to one of the tree stumps that held up their house.

"Here?" asked Flipper.

"Yep," said Otto.

"How are we going to get it in there?" asked Flipper.

"Watch and learn," said Otto. Flipper watched in fascination as Otto crouched down and turned something. Flipper couldn't see what it was so he crouched down next to Otto and to his amazement he saw a really small doorknob. "This is something I made," said Otto.

"What is it?" asked Flipper.

"It is a small safe, but I carved it into the tree trunk," said Otto.

"Neat," said Flipper.

"So I thought we could put the cookie in here," said Otto.

"Good idea. Only one problem: what if someone found it?" asked Flipper.

Otto just laughed. "Flipper, if you could walk past this over five hundred times with out seeing it before, I don't think anybody will see it without one of us telling them!" said Otto still laughing. So Otto and Flipper put the cookie into the safe and Otto ran over to his pillow and took a really small key out from under it and locked up the safe and put the key back.

Chapter 2

"Good night Flipper!" yelled Otto from his bedroom.

"Good night Otto!" yelled Flipper from his bedroom.

Three hours later . . . "Good night Flipper!" yelled Otto.

"Otto, go to sleep!" screamed Flipper.

"Sorry," said Otto. While Flipper was fast asleep, Otto across the hall started to drift off to sleep.

Chapter 3

"Good morning Otto," said Flipper as he walked into the kitchen.

"Good morning to you too, Flipper," said Otto.

"This, my friends, was the beginning of Otto and Flipper's adventure," said the author, aka me. OK, enough of my yapping; lets get back to the story.

"So, Flipper, what do you want to do today?" asked Otto.

"I don't know, but I want to do something outside," answered Flipper.

"I know, let's go exploring," said Otto.

"Good idea," agreed Flipper.

"Well then, let's start after breakfast," said Otto. Four minutes later Otto and Flipper were stepping out their front door to go exploring.

"What is in your backpack, Otto?" asked Flipper.

"A pair of binoculars, a flashlight, some bread and cheese, a magnifying glass, a jar to put something interesting in, a camera, two bottles of water, some rope just in case, and tape.

"Tape? Why in the world would we need that?" asked Flipper.

"I don't know. I just put it in there just in case," answered Otto. So Otto and Flipper began their exploring and a few minutes later. . . .

"Ahhhhhh! Otto, help me!" screamed Flipper. Otto spun around.

"Where are you, Flipper?" yelled Otto.

"I fell in a really deep hole and I guess it was covered with leaves so I didn't see it," said Flipper. Otto walked over to the hole.

"I'm glad I brought the rope," said Otto. Otto took out the rope and dropped one end to Flipper.

" Otto watch out!" screamed Flipper. It was too late. A fox pushed Otto into the hole.

"Ha ha ha. I got you both now," said the fox. All of a sudden it was dark. A few seconds later lights flickered on. "Otto and Flipper, I finally caught you both. Now I can finish my experiment," said the fox.

"Who are you? What experiment? And how did you turn the field that we were in into a cave?" asked Otto.

"Well I guess I could tell you because you won't be leaving," said the fox. "Anyway, I am Mr. Magdalena. My first name is Oscar. I'm the science teacher at Qualala School for Foxes, and about the experiment -- it is the most evil experiment in the entire world. I'm going to make a huge monster to take over the world and I need two Otters to help me.

"No way am I going to help you with some evil plan," Otto butted in.

"Neither am I," said Flipper.

"Let me finish!" boomed Oscar. Otto and Flipper became quiet. "Thank you. How I turned the field into a cave is: it was a cave before. I just turned it invisible and you walked right into my trap," finished Oscar.

"I'm sleepy," said Otto.

"Well it is very late. We should all go to sleep and wake up early to start my evil plan," said Oscar.

"I don't want to do your evil plan," said Otto.

"Neither do I," said Flipper.

"Well you have to," yelled Oscar. With that he turned out the lights and threw two pillows and a blanket into the hole for Otto and Flipper and curled up in his own bed and fell asleep. (By the way, Oscar lived in the cave.) Then a few minutes later Otto and Flipper fell asleep too.
