Development : The generosity of parents, grandparents, alumni, past parents, faculty and staff allows Live Oak to deliver the highest quality education for current and future students.
What is Development?
Development consists of the fundraising events and programs that contribute over 10 percent of Live Oak's total budget. Development programs are essential to the health and growth of independent schools like Live Oak, where the cost of a quality education cannot be met through tuition alone. As a non-profit school that receives no financial support from the government or religious institutions, Live Oak could not survive without the contributions of parents, extended community members and private charitable foundations.
Ways to Support Live Oak School
The unique elements that make a Live Oak education so compelling and rewarding are supported through the active participation and financial support of each member of the Live Oak community. Donation amounts, based on members' best efforts within their means, range from $5 to $20,000. Gifts of any amount are gratefully accepted and are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Annual Fund
The annual fund provides Live Oak's operating budget with unrestricted funds by soliciting yearly gifts from all members of the Live Oak Community. The 2007-2008 Annual Fund goal is $400,000, with 100% parent participation.
Tuition Assistance Fund
Live Oak largest fundraising event -- the annual benefit auction -- supports tuition assistance for Live Oak families. With the participation of the Live Oak community and hundreds of businesses throughout the Bay Area, the 2006-2007 auction, the Green Auction, raised $170,000.
Capital Giving
Capital gifts fund specific programs or initiatives that are not covered by the operating budget. Live Oak's first community-wide capital campaign raised $1.7 million, enabling the school to move into its permanent campus on Mariposa Street in 2001. In 2006, more than fifty generous donors made possible the new gym adjacent to the school.
Faculty Professional Development Fund
The generous donation of work assessment fee refunds supports faculty professional development in differentiated instruction.
Other Fundraising Events and Programs
From the Book Fair to eScrip, Live Oak offers many simple ways to fund the library collection, the annual eighth grade field trip to Washington DC, and more.
