Adrian Takyi

Second Grade Teacher

BA, Haverford College

Adrian Takyi grew up in upstate New York and attended Haverford College, where he earned a BA in history with a minor in education. After graduating, he lived in Philadelphia and taught at Wilmington Friends School. Adrian moved to the Bay Area in 2013 and spent two years teaching 2nd grade at San Francisco Day School before joining the Live Oak community in 2015. He has participated in many professional development opportunities, including Responsive Classroom Training, Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity (SEED) and the NAIS People of Color Conference. He cares deeply about equity and social justice, and incorporates these themes into his work inside and outside of the classroom. When he’s not teaching, Adrian can be found playing basketball, eating tacos and relaxing in the East Bay.
