Ashley (Ash) Black graduated from the University of South Florida in 2009 with an Elementary Education degree and taught in the K-8 International Baccalaureate Program for several years before earning her Masters in Leadership & Policy for Sustainability Education. She worked as an Instructional Specialist for K-8 IB World Schools in Portland, OR, where she discovered her enthusiasm for whole child education. She then went on to teach abroad in Shanghai, China, before moving to Oakland in 2020, where she served as the Director of IB & DEI Academics at a K-8 Spanish Immersion School. Ash is passionate about student agency, social and ecological justice, and project-based learning. Outside of the classroom, Ash enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with loved ones.
