Growing up in San Juan Bautista, Dorothy says, “Enrichment was fed to me like menudo in our household.” While most kids were absorbed with video games and hip-hop fads, Dorothy had a steady diet of politics, current events, and activist theater with a Latino slant. Dorothy is part of a four-generation family of actors, poets, and musicians in a bilingual theater troupe. She continues to stay active in theater as a costume designer, scene and production coordinator, and manages a political performing collective. Dorothy moved to San Francisco to finish a degree in fashion design and to work with various theater groups. She has worked with extended study programs in SFUSD in addition to working with organizations such as the Mission YMCA of SF as program director for ExCEL ASP, and the Randall Museum summer camps. In her spare time she likes to go on family trips, listen to music, see live theater, and play tennis.
