Johnny Galang

BA, Haverford College; MA Stanford University; MLIS San Jose State University; Teaching Credentials

Johnny Galang received a BA in East Asian Studies from Haverford College, completed an MA in Curriculum and Teacher Education at Stanford University, and, most recently, completed his MLIS and teacher-librarian credential at San Jose State University. Prior to becoming the librarian at Live Oak School, Johnny was a classroom teacher for sixteen years, mostly in first grade. He believes that books have the power to not only educate, but also help people develop empathy and understanding of others. For the past two years, Johnny has been the faculty coordinator for Live Oak’s Rainbow Kids, a social group for students with diverse gender identities. When he is not cataloging, shelving, or recommending books, Johnny enjoys reading (of course), running, knitting, and playing video games.
