Rachel Garlin

Community Co-Writer

BA, Harvard University

Berkeley native Rachel Garlin received her BA in Social Studies from Harvard University before becoming a credentialed teacher and professional singer-songwriter. She’s inspired by learning people’s life stories and working at the cross-section of history, music, literature, and social justice. With over fifteen years of classroom experience (in New York, Phoenix and the Bay Area), and a longstanding faculty position with Teaching Foundations (a professional-development course that mentors new teachers), Rachel also brings the perspective of a working musician, having toured nationwide while releasing five independent albums of original material. When she’s not planning curriculum or playing music, she’s playing house with her wife and three kids. rachel_garlin@liveoaksf.org
