Overview

Live Oak’s mission is to fulfill the potential and promise of each student. We create a joyful learning environment where students are active and engaged learners who bring their whole selves to school. We know each child well, which allows us to teach them well and support them in knowing themselves well. Our students learn how to advocate for themselves and to advocate for others, and graduate Live Oak ready for high school with a commitment to make their communities and the larger world a better place for everyone.

We are delighted that you are considering Live Oak School for your child. Enrolling a child at Live Oak School begins a journey of lifelong learning. Every fall we welcome 44 new kindergartners, new sixth graders, and a variety of new students in our other Lower School and Middle School grades. We actively seek a student body that reflects the diversity of San Francisco and the Bay Area.

The goal of the admission process at Live Oak School is to offer families numerous opportunities to get to know us – our mission, values, and educational approach – and for us to get to know your family and your child. While we are thrilled to be back on campus and completely in person for the 2021-22 academic year, the health and safety of our community is still our priority. We will be hosting some in-person admission events for inquiring families who can show proof of vaccination, and virtual events for those who cannot show proof of vaccination or are otherwise unable to attend. Large scale events will remain virtual out of an abundance of caution.

Details on the format of each Tour, Open House, and other events will be listed on Ravenna. Additionally, we will provide several videos exploring different aspects of our school that you can watch at your leisure. This process is structured to provide you all the information you need to choose the best school for your child and your family.
