The New Look of Athletics: Live Oak Lightning
Live Oak athletic teams will be retiring the Green Devil mascot this fall in exchange for a new look as the Live Oak Lightning.
After many memorable and amazing accomplishments by our Live Oak sports teams over the past decade, our Green Devils mascot is finally saying farewell. The Live Oak community has spoken - beginning this fall our athletics programs will be known as the Live Oak Lightning! Hundreds of votes were cast by students, staff, parents, and alumni, voicing their preferences between the Lightning and the Swarm as possible new mascots.
Our student-athletes will continue to play as the Green Devils through the remainder of this school year, but are excited to usher in a new era of Live Oak athletics starting with volleyball and cross country seasons in the fall.
As part of the broader reimagining of Live Oak’s visual identity, the school sought input from parents, students, and staff, while working in creative partnership with design consulting firm DISTINC, to develop an athletic redesign that captures the natural, phenomenal power of the Live Oak community. We’ll share more about the new mascot and logo in the coming months! Go Lightning!
