Camp Live Oak: An End-of-Year Tradition

Students, families, and staff packed their sleeping bags, loaded up their gear, and set out for YMCA Camp Jones Gulch to enjoy three days of outdoors, new activities, and community time.
This year’s edition of Camp Live Oak was especially important given that it was the first chance for the entire school to be back on the same site since 2019. Students filled their days hiking through the redwoods, firing away at the archery range, swimming in the pool, zipping down the zipline, ascending the climbing wall, navigating their canoe through the pond, making crafts, and so much more. Parents and guardians made the experience memorable by volunteering to help with activities, staying in the cabins, and keeping the coffee flowing!

Nights were filled with campfires, cabin community building, and one of the resounding highlights: the Camp Live Oak Talent Show. Students from all grades had the chance to show off their skills. This year we saw singing, dancing, comedy, sports skills, and an all-around sense of joy in the audience that sprawled out over the hillside in front of the bandshell stage.

Camp Live Oak is the perfect sendoff to summer break and an annual chance for our entire community to make lifelong memories. We can’t wait to do it again next year!
