Lightning Win 3 of 4 Events to Open Cross Country Season

The Live Oak cross country team came away with team victories in three of the meet’s four events this past Friday at Hellman Hollow. Kai R. won the 5th/6th Boys race in impressive fashion, coming in around 17 seconds ahead of the next finisher. Keshav M. also finished in the top-10, while the Lightning barely finished in second place as a team with just a four-point margin in the event.

The Lightning won the 5th/6th Girls race as Shoshi K. took first place in that race overall, finishing almost 20 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Isabel A., Eve P., and Chloe T. finished fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively, while Sierra P. came in ninth to round out Live Oak’s top-10 finishers.

In the 7th/8th Boys event, Tao O., Everett B., Wheeler M., and Nate S. finished in the top four slots to help lead the Lightning to a team win in that race. Live Oak then pulled out a narrow 10-point team win in the 7th/8th Girls event, led by top-five finishes from Amelia B. (3rd), Genevieve S. (4th), and Emma L. (5th).
