Live Oak’s annual Gratitude Graffiti Project invites all members of our school community to reflect and share their appreciations, their feelings, their hopes, and their wishes. It instills a spirit of mindfulness, connection, and care in our community that extends beyond the project’s timeline to infuse these values in our school all year long.
In one small square among the hundreds, a lower school student has written, “I am grateful for the people who have paused to read this.”
I, too, am grateful for the pause and presence I experience in the Live Oak School community, at this time, and through each stage of the school year. When our students see a schoolmate’s need, they turn their attention to help. When our teachers see a spark in class, they gather resources that fuel the fire. When our families hear a call for support, they offer rides, pies, hands, and minds.
At Live Oak, there is always an audience for our students’ learning and our school’s ambitions. It is a presence that lets us be heard, valued, and on the pathway to realize our fullest potential and promise as individuals and as a school community.
Thank you, Live Oak, for pausing to read this and more.
