Perspectives on Belonging

A primary goal of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee of the Board is to promote a culture and environment of belonging. During the month of April, the DEI Committee will spotlight perspectives from community members that showcase the moments when connection and belonging make a difference at Live Oak. Please find the first of four installments of this series here.
“I felt a sense of belonging at the first Conexiones event we attended and that feeling has only grown as we near the end of our third year. From casual potlucks with music and crafts, to participating in cultural events like the SF Mariposa Project's Annual Festival of Altars for Dia de los Muertos, to our first Holiday Posada & Toy Drive supporting our wider SF LatinX community, I am grateful for how our LatinX families have continued to come together to celebrate and support each other and our cultures. I look forward to seeing our Live Oak Conexiones community continue to grow during our tenure at the school and beyond.”
