A Warm Welcome at the Sunflower Assembly

The whole school gathered on the court at Jackson Park this past Friday to formally welcome the newest kindergarten members of our community in the Sunflower Assembly!
The annual tradition pairs kindergartners with eighth grade buddies from their Groves and helps establish the cross-grade connections that will build lasting relationships. In the spirit of inclusivity that frames the Sunflower Assembly, eighth graders took turns introducing their kinder buddies before everyone joined together to sing the Live Oak song. A lot of time is spent early in the school allowing our classroom communities to meet and learn about one another, and this tradition is an intentional and joyful extension of that process. We are happy to welcome everyone to Live Oak!
